Why Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy?
Psychoanalysis is both a body of knowledge, a "metapsychology" of the human mind, as well as an approach to clinical psychotherapy. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is of interest and help to anyone interested in understanding why they think, feel, and/or behave as they do.
It is not a therapy that involves being told what to do, but a depth psychotherapy that seeks to uncover unhelpful thoughts, feelings and motivations, blocks to development, operating out of awareness.
If you would like to learn more two very good and useful books are, "The Examined Life" by Stephen Grosz, and "Are You Considering Therapy" by Anouchka Grose. Both can be bought online or via a local bookshop.
